Last weekend, Miss T, Miss S and I decided to have dinner in South Yarra. Miss T was keen to visit Yoshi, after a previously good experience. Being a Saturday night, we made a booking for 7, and turned up for some good Japanese.

We decided to share some edamame to begin with while we waited for our mains. We were a little disappointed when these were forgotten, however, we happily ate them along side our mains. We did have to ask 3 times for water before it appeared, which was odd as there wasn’t all that many in the restaurant.

Miss T decided to create her own tapas-style meal, choosing a serve of the soft shell crab, and gyoza from the entree menu. The gyoza were on the smallish side, however I was pleased to see they looked as though they had been made in-house.

Miss S opted for the sushi and sashimi platter, which was freshly prepared. It was beautifully presented on a wooden board.

I chose the spicy chicken teppanyaki, which had a good amount of heat for me (I like things pretty medium). Although the menu said it came with vegetables, they were clearly overwhelmed by the chicken in this dish. The flavours were good though.

It was a fun girls-night-out. Meals were on the $$ side (sorry I forgot to make a note!). I think my main was around the $25 mark. But a good environment, good selection and not at all greasy. A good choice for dinner before having a few drinks on Chapel st.
