Yesterday, Miss R and I met up to discuss our plans to move out together. Over the weekend, she had been the successful bidder on a cute little art deco apartment between Glenferrie and Auburn stations. Oh. My. God. I’m so excited, I’ve already been researching all the kitchen stuff I’m going to buy!!

Anyway, Miss R suggested we try Huxtaburger, the newish burger joint run by the genius’ behind Huxtable. Opened last year literally across the road from the original, Huxtaburger offers delicious burgers at the quality one would expect from a restaurant such as Huxtable.

Miss R went for the original Huxtaburger: a beef pattie, mustard, mayo, tomato sauce, tomato, cheese, lettuce and pickles served on a moist brioche bun ($8.00). She also ordered a small serve of the crinkle cut chips for us to share ($2.50).

I decided I wanted to give Denise (the hot one) a try.. The filling was the same as the huxtaburger, but with the addition of jalapenos and sriracha mayo ($9.00). It was delicious. Imagine the gourmet element of Grill’d combined with the deliciousness of Maccas (come on, you know their burgers are good). The brioche bun added a nice sweetness, while the jalapenos provided a nice kick without being too overpowering. Definitely worth the extra dollar over the regular burger.

I was very pleased with my burger from Huxtable. It tasted delicious, although the brioche bun wasn’t as absorbent as a normal bun resulting in plenty of juice running down my hands. A messy but pleasurable experience.
